Today is the Feast of Sts. Pontian, Pope, and Hippolytus, Priest, Martyrs!
The story of Sts. Pontian and Hippolytus is something you may not have heard before! They were early Church leaders in the third century who had a bitter rivalry. Pontian was elected Pope in 230 AD while Hippolytus, a theologian, was so critical of Church leadership that he crowned himself an antipope! But this all changed when they were both exiled to the silver mines of Sardinia by the Roman Emperor. Suffering together, they eventually healed the rivalry and forgave each other.
Who do you have to forgive today?
Let’s pray the Angelus!
🙏Let’s Pray the Angelus
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
